One Saturday Morning

Okay, forget the cutesy introduction stuff, and let's cut to the chase. Ever heard of Disney's One Saturday Morning? Not really retro, but it fits better on here than my other blog. It's too reminiscent to warrant a spot on "Juliana Talks Incoherently."

For those out of the loop who need clarification, One Saturday Morning was a kid's television block that ran for 5 hours every Saturday morning (duh) on ABC.

These are some of the shows from One Saturday Morning: "Pepper Ann," "The Weekenders, "Teacher's Pet," "Recess," "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh," Disney's version of "Doug," and others (those are just the ones I remember). I've added some pictures to distract you from the writing (because we all know I can write enough about nothing to start my own chrestomathy)--hehe.

Okay, so this TV block lasted from 1997 to 2002, where it was replaced with ABC Kids, which just plays reruns of shows from Disney Channel. That would mean that the quality of Saturday morning TV would be inversely related to how many coffee breaks the writers at Disney decide to take. We all know how they like their coffee breaks.

Of course One Saturday Morning was not a television phenomenon to shape a generation. The 1980's was supposedly the best decade in Saturday morning cartoons, but I wasn't alive for that. Mehe.

Here's the One Saturday Morning intro...now, this I don't remember. I do remember the cheeky way they said "One Saturday Morning" though. That in itself was enough to entice me for a while.
